The Christina Conservancy is a vibrant grassroots organization that facilitates actions for a clean and healthy Christina River and watershed. Founded in 1982, the Christina Conservancy is dedicated to preserving and protecting the Christina River through activities like the annual Christina River Watershed Cleanup and the Edward W. Cooch Environmental Scholarship. A continuing project of the Conservancy in partnership with the State of Delaware and others (including over 800 volunteers), the cleanup has removed over 400 tons of trash since 1992! The Christina Conservancy works hand-in-hand witih state and local agencies, nonprofit organizations, residents, homeowners, landowners, and user groups.

Our Mission: To promote the preservation, restoration and appreciation of the historic and natural resources of the Christina River and watershed

The Christina Conservancy provides financial support, advocacy support, communications, education, and leadership for:

  • Accessing the river responsibly
  • Improving water quality with less pollution
  • Protecting and enhancing natural areas
  • Engaging people as stewards of the river

We envision a Christina River and watershed with clean waters and healthy natural areas to support abundant fish and wildlife and ample opportunities for recreation and enjoyment by people, thanks to the good stewardship of residents and landowners and effective regulation and management by agencies.
